Friends of Tom plays a high energy mix of folk, blues, country, rockabilly, and classic rock with a little honky-tonk for fun. It’s pure Americana with a pinch of back-woods, a smidgen of back porch, a dash of delta, with sprinkles of twang. Their sound incorporates an interesting mix of instrumentation using mandolin, harmonica, stand up bass, telecaster twang guitar and powerful soulful vocals with an occasional yodel for the WOW factor that distinguishes them from their peers. When you hear the boot stomping you know Friends of Tom is going into high gear. Friends of Tom perform as a duo, trio, or full band.
“Friends of Tom” performs at popular night spots and festivals through out the Lehigh Valley. Liz Younger provides powerful soulful vocals while Chris Younger furnishes a steady groove on guitar, adding harmonica and mandolin as well. Tom Walz adds lead guitar, Jim Thompson adds the bottom end on upright bass, and Frank Z. bangs the skins. ”Friends of Tom” exhibit their musical experience in their genuine execution of each and every performance.
Friends of Tom debut CD, FoBluCo, is released! The CD contains 12 songs, 11 of which are original tracks, spanning topics of love, loss, and quirky observations of life. While humorous at times, the CD also challenges the listener with thoughtful and provoking lyrics. Check out the CD link for song info, lyrics, and other information about the CD. With over 40 acts entered, Friends of Tom was 1 of 4 finalists at the 5th Annual Lehigh Valley Acoustic Performance Contest.
Our song, "East Coast Woman", is on QuickStar Productions, Chill Out, East Coast Edition, Volume 7. The CD is available at our shows and is also available on most download sites. On Itunes do a power search entering "Friends of Tom" as the band.
